Sanctions
Its becoming increasingly probable that the reason we invaded Iraq was because Iraq had in fact been complying with the inspectors and the sanctions would have eventually ended. Duefler's report released today says that Iraq had destroyed some of the weapons in 1991 and the rest in 1995 and that the nuclear program had been abandoned. Had sanctions ended, the future potential of Iraq would of course be an unknown. Though he had no actual plans strucuture how to do it, Hussein kept the scientists that had the knowledge to re-build the programs. The oil-for-food related bribes probably were aimed to influence a vote to lift sanctions.
The question is, is this morally more acceptable or less acceptable reason to invade?
